Rivera Group Real Estate wants every person looking for a home in the Las Vegas Valley to be able to use this website, including people who navigate by keyboard, use a screen reader or magnifier, need larger text, or are affected by motion.

01 What is in place

Keyboard and focus

• Every interactive element — links, buttons, form fields, the video pause control — is reachable and operable by keyboard alone.
• Keyboard focus is drawn explicitly, as a copper outline with an offset, because the browser default is invisible against this site’s dark sections.
• A “Skip to content” link is the first thing in the tab order, so keyboard users are not walked through the navigation on every visit.

Motion

• The site honours the operating-system “reduce motion” setting. When it is on, scroll animations are not merely shortened — they are skipped entirely, and content renders in its final, fully visible state.
• The hero background video has a visible, labelled pause control, and pausing it persists while you are on the page.
• Nothing on the site flashes, strobes, or blinks faster than three times per second.

The films

• Nothing with sound plays on its own. The four films — the opening piece and the three answers — start only when you press play, and each one uses the browser’s own controls, so keyboard, screen-reader, and picture-in-picture behaviour is whatever your browser already does.
• Captions are provided on every film and are on by default, rather than waiting behind a settings menu.
• The question each film answers is also written out in text beneath it, so the substance of the answer is available without playing anything.

Structure and screen readers

• Real landmarks and headings rather than styled <div> soup, so heading-navigation works.
• Decorative layers — grain, gradients, ambient video, chart artwork — are hidden from assistive technology instead of being announced as noise.
• Images that carry meaning have text alternatives.

The intake form

• Every field has a visible, permanently attached label. No placeholder-only fields.
• Errors are announced, tied to the field they belong to, and described in words rather than by colour alone. Submitting an incomplete form moves focus to the first field that needs attention.
• Success and failure messages are announced to screen readers when they appear.
• The phone number is optional, and it is labelled as optional.

Text

• Text is set in relative units and reflows without loss of content when zoomed to 200%.
• Primary body text measures 12.89:1 against its background, well beyond the 4.5:1 requirement.

02 Known exceptions

These are measured, current, and being worked on. Ratios are against the background each colour actually sits on.

• The copper accent colour measures 3.87:1. It clears the 3:1 threshold for large text and for interface components, and it is used for large display type and for graphical accents throughout. But it is also used for some small uppercase labels and for button text, where the requirement is 4.5:1. In every one of those cases the label duplicates information available elsewhere on the page in higher-contrast text, so no content is reachable only through copper.
• Some secondary text on dark sections is set at reduced opacity and lands between 2.5:1 and 4.0:1. This affects supporting captions and fine print, not headings, links, form labels, or any instruction needed to complete a task.
• Ambient background video plays automatically on load. It is muted, carries no information, and can be paused — but it is motion that appears without being asked for, and for some visitors that is the barrier regardless of the pause button.
• The films have captions but no audio description and no separate transcript page. Everything spoken is captioned, and the on-screen figures are also read aloud, so nothing is available only visually — but WCAG asks for a described or alternative version of prerecorded video, and that does not exist yet.
• No formal third-party audit has been performed. The findings above come from our own testing and automated contrast measurement, not from an independent accessibility review.

03 How this was tested

Keyboard-only navigation of every interactive element; the operating-system reduce-motion setting on and off; browser zoom to 200%; programmatic contrast measurement of the colour palette against WCAG 2.1 thresholds; and playback of every film with its caption track checked against what is actually said. Testing was done in current versions of Chrome and Safari on macOS.

04 Report a barrier

If something on this site blocked you, please say so. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what happened, and include the browser or assistive technology you were using if you know it. We aim to reply within two business days and to fix confirmed barriers promptly.
